Get Excited-Summer Planning Is Here

I love winter. It's not about the cold or the snow (even though snow has been very little so far). It is because I get to plan my calendar for this summer's events.

I am already in the planning and practicing stages of my new show for the Summer Reading Program (SRP) called "Dream Big, Read." It is going to be an exciting and fun time and I am looking at adding balloon twisting as part of the show.

Magic For Seniors - Very Entertaining

Wow, what a fun December I am having. Today I am performing my last Christmas Magic Show for 2011.

I have performed for kids under 9 years old and for adults over 90. My favorite this year has been entertaining the retirement community. I've been at both large and small facilities and it has been fun to see the people's reactions to a magic trick or their face light up when they receive a balloon creation.

I definitely plan on contacting senior living facilities for next years holiday and Christmas events.

Rock Your Brain-Read A Book

I hope you had a great Christmas Day yesterday, what was your favorite food you ate?

Just because it is the holidays doesn't mean your kids need to stop reading. I have an excellent recommendation for you. The author is Robert Munsch. Actually, before Mr Munsch was an author he was (and is) a storyteller.

See if your library has any of his books. Your kids will love him. OR, you can go to his web site and listen to him tell one of his stories. He even allows you to download them to your computer.

Spiderman and Eleanor Made My Day

I had a great magic show last night. What made it great? A responsive, exciting audience. I performed a family friendly show at a local assisted living home. The room was filled with close to 60 great grandparents, grandparents, parents and children. Two of them stuck out in my head.

A little four year old dressed up as Spiderman helped with one of my magic routines. Afterwards his mother brought him up and he ran up to me and gave me the biggest hug. Thanks Spidy for sharing the love.

The second person was Eleanor, a bright eyed, 95 years old, classy lady. I loved watching her have fun during the show. She laughed and laughed and had an infectious smile that made you smile back. Eleanor was even kind enough to help me in one of my routines. It was fun for everyone to see the surprised look on her face when I revealed her favorite color.

I would love to create fun for your event just like I did for Spiderman and Eleanor. We are still booking for December Holiday shows and starting to book for January.

Zoomalata Magic of Appleton, Wisconsin has picked a charity that it will give officially support on a regular basis. Zoomalata Magic, a family entertainment company will give a portion of each paid show to Cerebral Palsy Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Owner and professional magician, Steven Dickinson, also known as Mr D the Magician, says, "We've been looking for a place we could give back and support. It took a year to find the right group and we have found that the C.P. Center is the one we want to support."

Zoomalata Magic has already donated a couple performances to the Cerebral Palsy Center in Green Bay, including a magic show during the 3rd Annual Walk & Booyah that was held on October 1, 2011.

Don't Be Scared But Christmas Is Coming To You Soon

I know, I know Halloween hasn't even passed but if you are in charge of this years Christmas Holiday Party There are some things you might want to know.

Have you seen the calendar for December. This year (2011) Christmas falls on a Saturday. This means New Years Day does as well. So there are two weekends you most likely will not want to schedule your holiday party.
So you now only have three weekends to choose from in the month of December to have your party. With only three months away now is the time to begin booking your entertainment, food and place for the party.

You may find it tough even now getting exactly what you want if someone beat you to the punch for your favorite entertainment, band, D.J., Caterer, etc.
GREAT IDEA ALERT!
Have you considered having your holiday party in January when your options might be better than your options in December? If you have the party in January you might be able to get all the people and places you are looking for.

In closing, if you are looking for a magician my calendar is filling up fast for December. I have both Adult only and Kid shows booked. I would love to perform at your holiday event for this year.

Whether for adults, kids or both every performance is good clean fun. I can perform a regular sit down magic show or walk around and perform up close magic for a few people at a time.

Birthday Party Balloons Into A Ton Of Fun

Balloon Themed Party

So your looking to host a small birthday party for your child but you want to keep it simple. Have you thought about a balloon themed party? Balloons are simple to work with and most children love balloons. Here are a few ideas and a couple safety tips.

Fun To Just Kick Around

If you don't want to do much planning you could just let the kids (and fun-seeking adults) run around the backyard kicking and playing with balloons. Be sure to pick up any balloons that pop so little kids don't put the pieces in their mouth and choke on them.

Balloon Games

There are many games you can play with balloons. I have found memories of when I was a child and playing balloon games at a friends birthday party.

Count And Hold Them
Have the kids pick up as many balloons as they can and hold them for one minute. The one holding the most balloons after the minute wins.

Balloon Pop
Have a starting line any desired distance away from the balloons. Split the guests into two groups. The first person in each line runs down, grabs a balloon and pops it. They run back tag the next person who runs down and pops a balloon. They keep doing this until everyone has popped a balloon and are back at the starting line. TIP-after a guest has popped their balloon have them sit down when they are done. This makes it easier to know who is left to take a turn

Balloon Bop
Everyone stands in a circle with an adult in the very middle. The adult bops it with their hands towards a guest they call out and the guest must bop it back to them. For the younger kids they can bop it back with just their hands.

For the older kids and adults have the adult call out a body part that the older guest must bop back with that body part. If the leader in the center calls out 'elbow' the balloon must be hit back with an elbow.

Balloon Entertainer

How about hiring a balloon twister? Remember when trying to locate a balloon artist you can look up balloonist, balloon twister but many magicians, clowns, and other entertainers know how to create balloon sculptures.

Balloon Safety

I can't say it enough that there needs to be a watchful eye on all the children. In fact, the more adults that can be present to help out the better. Here are some things to pay attention to:

Keep an eye out for broken balloons. Pick up all the pieces.
Make sure the children are not putting any part of the balloons, blown-up or broken into their mouth.
Ask the parents if any of the children attending are sensitive to latex. Some people can break out in hives just by touching a balloon.

We Want More Magic...We Want More Magic!

Say it with me and pound on your desk, "We want more magic...We Want More Magic...WE WANT MORE MAGIC!!!

Now that everyone in your office or home are looking at you strangely I will tell you a little story from yesterdays magic show for the Cerebral Palsy Center in Greenbay, Wisconsin.

I've been a magician for 30 years now. Many, many, many people have laughed and have had major fun watching me perform comedy magic. But yesterday the daycare children would not leave without seeing at least one more magic trick.

This was the first time I ever had the audience call for an encore. What a lot of fun. Of course, I always carry extra magic in my trunk and I performed another colorful magical effect.

I Had A Wonderful Show Today!

I had the wonderful opportunity of performing for the day care, adult program and staff of the Green Bay Cerebral Palsy Center. I Loved it!

During my magic performances I borrow a lot of helpers from the audience throughout the show. All my helpers did an excellent job. I especially enjoyed the help from some of the adults.

The children from the daycare were electric and it was beautiful and heart warming to see all their smiles and hear the laughing.

After the magic show Amy was gracious to give my wife and me a tour of the facilities.

On October 1, 2011, they are holding a fundraiser. It is a Walk And Booyah and it is going to be held at Heritage Hill State Historical Park in Green Bay. Would you consider joining the walk and help raise money for this fine center.

After the Booyah I will be performing a magic show. The approximate time for the magic show will be 10:15 AM.

Meet Sherman The Magic Bunny

Especially as we encourage kids to read at some of Wisconsin Librarys. This years Summer Reading Program theme is "One World- Many Stories." It is going to be a lot of fun.
